2008 Florida Keuring Results
On the morning of
September 25, 2008, judges Jan Hendriks and Ed Pouw awoke to the
scenic views of pastures with rolling hills and huge oak trees.
For the 4th year in a row, FHASE hosted the most southern U.S.
keuring at the Florida Carriage Museum and Resort. That tranquil
moment didn’t last too long for the judges as my 9-year old mare
Zarina H.M. (Feitse 293 Pref x Dirk 298 Sport) and I were
getting ready to ride the IBOP test first thing in the morning.
With her 7-month old foal watching ringside, Zarina earned
herself 74 points for that test. Overall, I was pleased with her
performance since I cannot blame her too much for lacking some
energy (which any ‘working mother’ can understand.)
One of our newest FHASE members, Monique Simone of Pensecola, FL
attended her first keuring ever – along with her 3 year old mare
Sascha (Sibald 380 x Jelte 365). Sascha did not disappoint her,
receiving a 2nd premie Ster title and going home as a Reserve
Champion Mare.
Zarina H.M. earned herself the Champion mare title for the
second time.
Not to be outdone by his stable mate Zarina, 4-year old Nasak (Ulbert
390 Sport x Nammen 308) owned by Mary Pruchansky of Naples, FL
left the ring as Champion gelding.
After patiently watching her mother in the spotlight it was time
for Antonella R.F. (Anton 343 x Feitse 293 Pref) to impress the
judges. She was rewarded with a 2nd premie and Champion Filly.
Anneke of Fairlawn (Gradus 356 x Jurjen 303) made her owner
Martina DiPasqua of Sorrento, FL proud as Reserve Champion
Filly.
We also had one beautiful stallion, Sikke (Ulbert 390 Sport x
Feitse 293 Pref) owned by Suzy Seamon of Norco, CA in
attendance, but unfortunately no colts this year.
Although it was a smaller keuring compared to previous years,
the judges enjoyed the relaxed and comfortable atmosphere and
gorgeous Florida weather. They even got a private tour of the
museum, which houses one of the largest collections of carriages
in the world, before returning to the airport.
